Kevin Hourigan is Chairman and co-founder of Nova Incepta, and has 35 years ofexperience in developing and selling high tech solutions to the Telecoms, Corporateand Government markets, where he has established a reputation for pioneeringleadership in technologies from Office Automation, switching, SDH, ATM, and then VoIPand NGN.For the last 14 years he has held a range of senior management roles in the USA andUK in GPT and its successor, Marconi. He revived the faltering relationship in the 90sto restore GPT to its position as BTs pre-eminent supplier, and then turned round thefailing alternate carrier business to make what he restyled "UK Avanti" theunchallenged market leader in the country.From 2002 onwards he has been known around the world as "Captain SoftSwitch", andled the Marconi programme to success and recognition in China, Russia and Germanyin a strategic initiative to establish a global position.In 1993 he was honoured with the MBE by Her Majesty the Queen.
Brian Down is a founding Partner of Nova Incepta. With over 40 years experience in theindustry and is an extremely experienced telecoms Executive.Prior to Nova Incepta, Brian held a number of director level appointments with Marconi,which involved working with a diverse range of customers and vendors in the telecomindustry; in Europe, USA and APAC (Asia Pacific). As Marconi’s Network TransformationDirector he was responsible for advising operators on practical solutions for the migrationof Voice to Packet Networks.Before joining Marconi, Brian worked for 37 years in British Telecom. During the 1990s hisroles included, Chief Architect for Narrowband Switching Network and Manager of theSwitch Technology & Policy Unit, where he was responsible for BTs Switch DevelopmentProgrammes including the Next Generation Switching. Previously he led the BT SwitchModernisation Programme, which digitized the BT UK Network. This required the directionand leadership of a large nationwide team and managing an annual capital budget of£1bn.From 2001 - 2005 Brian was also board member of the MultiService Forum (MSF), aglobal association committed to developing and promoting open-architecture, multi serviceswitching systems and interoperability testing. He also sat on the MSF TechnicalCommittee as Chairman of the Network Management Working Group and is a SeniorFellow of the MSF.

Richard Kendall is Managing Director and a founding partner of Nova Incepta Europe(NIE). Richard is a senior telecommunications Executive, who has detailed market andproduct knowledge. He specialises in strategy, business and market development forproducts and services, sales, acquisitions from both an acquiring and acquiredprospective, commercial processes and partnerships.Prior to NIE, Richard was Sales and Business Director Wireline Services in Ericssons,where he was responsible for the integration of Marconi’s Services business into Ericssonand responsible for Ericsson's strategy for the Wireline services market.Before Ericssons acquisition of Marconi, he held a number of Senior Director positions inthe company. These included:•Director Head of Product Management Marconi Communications, where hisresponsibilities included setting the overall product strategy across the full Marconiproduct family, introducing product line profitability, improving the return on R & Dexpenditure and allocating an R & D budget of £185m.•Director Commercial and Sales Operation which involved putting in place a salesforecasting process being responsible for all major tender approvals andcommercial processes.•Vice president Business Development and Strategy Marconi Services. Heestablished the overall strategy and business plan for the creation of a separateServices Business. Created an overall services company by assimilating theservices businesses from Marconi’s different acquisitions into one company. Thiswork achieved a profitable sales growth of £400m to £1bn.Richard also managed the SDH partnership with Siemens which led to an increase insales by £300m in two years. He also had full account responsibility for sales to BT,increasing sales from £300m to £450m and winning a single source contract for SDH withBT which had total sales of over £1bn.
